This is a guest contribution by Kiersten Brown, a friend and wonderful writer.

Small frosted covered treats that often come with sprinkles on top are mostly known as a sinful indulgence or birthday treats. However, cupcakes are not just a symbol for one’s sweet tooth fix, but a symbol of hopes and dreams. For Karolynh Tran, her dream is cupcakes, but not just any cupcakes, homemade vegan cupcakes.

Most people shy away from anything vegan, however contrary to popular beliefs that most vegan foods are dry and bland; these special vegan treats are not only moist but delicious. Karolynh Tran’s “Sweet Little Cups” are vegan cupcakes that are an oxymoron in itself, a tasty vegan treat.

Tran’s cupcake dream started about a year and a half ago, after being completely turned off by the regular heavy, overly sweet cupcakes and pondered the idea of a healthier guilty pleasure. After creating her vegan cupcakes she did decided to venture off to the Cupcake Camp, a charity event in L.A. for amateur and professional cupcake bakers.

At the Cupcake Camp, Tran felt like any new comer, nervous yet excited to show her cupcakes to the world, or at least to everyone at the camp. Unfortunately her cupcake table was passed and overlooked by many people, as if the word “vegan” repelled guest from even getting close to Tran’s table. Luckily there were some adventurous yet healthy guest that gave Tran’s cupcakes a try. For those guests who were brave enough to try, they were not let down. Guests not only liked but loved her vegan cupcakes, which was motivation enough for Tran to continue to pursue her dream.

What is unique about this story is not just that the cupcakes can be made with no eggs or milk and still taste good, but that one person’s dream to create something, is slowly becoming the start of her success.

“I thought it was good story, so tried to write it as a good story, my angle is an ordinary person, who is following their dreams, even though this dream isn’t to go to the moon, or make a global change its a dream that is different and a dream that is being pursued, and any dream no matter how big or small is important, and I want to emphasize that.” – Kiersten
