You could tell she knew business like the back of her hand. Having experience in virtually every aspect of business: sales, marketing, finance, entrepreneurism; Lorie started our conversation talking about good partnerships, constant cash flow, and what it means to have amazing customer service. However, well into our one-hour phone conversation, she began mentioning a lot about spirituality and the concept of balance.

She recognized a market for wine grown from small vineyards, and after coming up with a platform on marketing, decided to start a cable channel, in which she owned for seven years. This has allowed her to live comfortably, travel the world, and meet so many interesting people along the way. However, this has also caused a strain in other aspects of her life. She is divorced, raising a 5-year-old son on her own. She told of the day her son was born. She went to work on Thursday, had an appointment at noon, gave birth to her son afterwards, and came back to work on Tuesday: no rest. There was no balance in her life, just the process of the work; and as Lorie simply stated, “I fell.”

There’s a lot of pressure by our surroundings, peers, families, and selves in trying to be this super conglomerate of a person, especially seen in the professional realm. It isn’t so much to just be rich, but to want everything and feel that you deserve everything. This either paralyzes you to inaction, or sparks you into a raging bull, blindly charging your dream in reckless abandon. Balance is key in rediscovering purpose.
How did she pick herself back up?

She started asking herself questions: what are my values? Why do I do what I do? Am I following my passions? Do I have the right priorities? Am I doing what I’m doing for the true goal or for the power and status that comes with it? She laid everything out and had to be very honest with herself.

“I just am whatever I am.”

Since then, she has crafted her balance. She constantly evaluates and analyzes herself, always asking. With a balance between a material and spiritual life, “everything will happen for you.” She notices a different energy level, of a more constant flow. She’s starting a new venture with great partners , has ample time for her son, goes to church, meditates, and has learned to unhook everything in times of rest. What drives her now? ” To utilize natural born talents in the business area so that one day in the future I can serve others who aren’t as privileged, while in the business life, exercising these skills serving others.” This is quite far from falling.

Really well written and extremely inspirational. Lorie sounds like someone I aspire to be. You, on the other hand, have an artistry in your own right. Congrats on your new endeavor. This website rocks and your passion is positively infectious, with no foreseeable cure in sight. Keep up the good work.
